Inscription Verso, upper center in ink on backing board: “And The Sun rose red / like God’s own Head.” / To / Elizbeth Walton McMillan / on her marriage / Gifford, May & Stella Dyer.

Inscription Verso, lower center in ink on paper mounted to backing board: This Painting in “Pastel” to be very carefully / handled & great Care taken that nothing / touch its surface. It will be best to leave / the transparent paper over it until the / frame (a simple moulding just strong enough / to hold the glass & either painted white / or gilt in pure pale gold) is quite ready – / Then carefully remove transparent paper & / place at once securely in frame under glass.

Typically, image requests that do not require new photography can be completed within three weeks. Whenever possible, rush orders may be accommodated, although additional fees may apply.
